Meet a Coach: Armand Winters – Head Varsity Softball Coach at Foundation Academy

At Foundation Academy, our coaches don’t just build athletes — they build character, community, and a legacy of excellence. In this edition of our “Meet a Coach” series, we’re excited to spotlight Coach Armand Winters, the head varsity softball coach, who has dedicated over a decade to impacting young athletes on and off the field.

Coach Winters has been coaching for 11 years, with 7 of those years at Foundation Academy. His passion for the game and for his players is evident in everything he does. Before joining FA, he coached travel softball for the Windermere Wildfire organization for four years, helping players grow their skills at a high level of competition.

When asked about his favorite memories at Foundation Academy, Coach Winters shared two defining moments that perfectly capture the spirit and determination of his team.

“Beating Cornerstone Charter in the regional semi-final after they run-ruled us 13-1 just two weeks earlier was unforgettable. But the biggest moment? Winning regionals 17-5 against OCP to go to the final four. We had never beaten either team in the history of the program. It was incredible.”

Coach Winters is not only a coach during the season—he lives and breathes the sport year-round. He teaches hitting to kids all over Central Florida and has become a go-to mentor for young players looking to grow in the game. When he’s not coaching or working with hitters, you’ll find him playing golf, traveling, or spending time with his family and church community at Family Church in Windermere.

His journey into coaching began with a simple ask and a proud dad moment:

“My oldest daughter started playing at Windermere Little League when she was 8. They asked me to help out—and I’ve been coaching ever since.”

Coach Armand Winters represents what Foundation Academy Athletics is all about: commitment, passion, and faith-driven leadership. We’re thankful to have him leading our softball program and inspiring the next generation of Lions to chase greatness on and off the field.
